Derek Toon

I am a photographer based in County Durham.  I have recently returned to DSLR photography after years of using compact cameras.

I use a Nikon D7000 plus Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 35mm, Nikon 85mm macro, Nikon 16-85mm and Nikon 70-300 lenses.

My photographic interests are travel, landscape and urban decay.  I haven’t got started on Urban Decay yet, but watch this space.

My wife and I also operate a small agency.  We don’t have a team of minions at our beck and call, it’s just the two of us, toiling away for our clients and delivering great results.

We started our agency in 2010 and we specialise in copywriting, document reviewing and the manipulation and improvement of images.

I originally worked in the IT industry as a programmer – in those days, computers were as big as houses.  I have managed large technical documentation departments and assisted in the development of websites for the Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast.  In recent years, as the Bishop Auckland Town Centre Manager, I have managed the development of a comprehensive website for the town.  Since retiring from full-time employment, I have worked as a website developer and technical document reviewer for my daughter’s copywriting agency in Sydney.
